It was close! The 2 for 1 portfolio did beat the market again this year by 0.25%. Using the Vanguard 500 Index Fund as our benchmark (+30.73% for the year) the 2 for 1 portfolio’s 30.98% gain gives us a win, but not by the 2% to 3% outperformance we have learned to expect. Our overall annualized return since inception has been 11.27% compared to the Vanguard 500 Fund’s 9.07% annualized gain over the same 23+ year period. 2019 was a challenge, I think mostly due to the dominance of the big names exerting undue pressure on the Dow and the S&P 500 indexes. Whatever the reason, I’m pleased that 2 for 1 was able to keep up and even eke out a razor thin win.
